Two Families with Kids Travelling in Barcelona

Going on holiday with your friends and their families can be a great experience. Not only does it give you and your partner other adults to talk to, but it allows the kids to bring their kids along for the journey, too. However, families often need their own space, even on holiday in Barcelona. In this case, the best decision that you can make is to look for a great apartment building.

Although you have come together, you might not want to live right next door to one another. An apartment will allow you retain a bit of your family's privacy because you can choose what rooms you want. You decide how close you want to be, whether it is a room apart, or on another floor. This is something you couldn't do in a hotel where you rarely get any say in the matter.

A happy medium will be renting an apartment on the same floor as your friends. This lets the kids visit each of the rooms without ever really leaving the sight of the adults responsible for them. You are also just a few steps from your own door after enjoying a nice meal and a couple of glasses of wine.

With an apartment you will gain a lot of control over the facilities you want provided. You dictate what features you want in your room, which could help to cater for the needs of young families and those with babies.

Even if your two families need altogether different amenities, this doesn't mean you have to live in opposite sides of the building. Apartment buildings generally have more varied rooms, even between those on the same floor.

The area you look to base yourself in will be just as important as the actual apartment itself. When you are two families, meaning double the amount of kids, you will probably want somewhere peaceful. Although Barcelona city centre is always a busy place, the same cannot be said for all neighbourhoods.

In this case, Eixample seems to fit the bill just perfectly. A residential neighbourhood, it is where you will find some of the most luxurious apartments in the city. The ambience of the area reflects its upper class status, which makes it a safe choice for families. It's not all bright lights and music, but a friendly neighbourhood with a family atmosphere. There are also lots of parks and squares where you won't have to worry about traffic.

El Born is a place where many young families choose to base themselves in the city. This is because it offers a good slice of family fun. Its quaint, tree-lined streets are perfect for pushing around prams and buggies, and are also within toddling distance of the beach.

The BCN Sant Antoni is also a very popular apartment building for families. The area itself is just a few subway stops outside the city centre, making it perfect for those with kids. It may be a little further out from the action, but it's certainly not isolated.

Another of the attractions of Sant Antoni is the ancient food market. This is one of Barcelona's rarest areas, where you can experience the true culture of the Catalans. You can also pick up a few bits and pieces to make a true feast for both holidaying families.

Families need their own space, but by booking an apartment you can make any concerns over privacy disappear. Unlike hotels, you choose the room, you choose the facilities and you gain control over how you wish to spend your holiday. Barcelona's apartments are spread throughout the city, and many of them in great places for families to base themselves. Privacy, comfort and entertainment: three vital components for families holidaying together, and all available in Barcelona.
