African Safari Destinations

The thought of going on safari is like a dream for many of us. Having the experience of being in such close proximity to the largest and most dangerous land mammals in the world, along with some of the strangest, in their natural habitat, is something that every person should do before they die. Choosing to spend your holiday on safari is the easy part; planning and detailing every last minute of your holiday may take a little more effort. In order to make this a little easier for you, this article is aimed at informing you as to some unconventional destinations for your safari adventure.

Kenya - The Masai Mara (Masai being the name of the local inhabitants and Mara meaning spotted, referring to what it looks like from afar) is one of the most famous game reserves in the world. The Masai Mara is actually a continuation of the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania which connects to the southern border of Kenya. Although it is not the largest game reserve in Africa, the Masai Mara makes up for this by providing some of the most authentic experiences possible for visitors on safari.

Uganda - Uganda, the Pearl of Africa, is one of the most beautiful countries in Africa and contains some simply stunning natural wonders such as waterfalls, lakes and forests. One of the most fascinating places to visit in Uganda and a place that every person on the planet should see is the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest contained for the most part in the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. To put is simply, if you want to see mountain gorillas, this is the place to go.

Zambia - Zambia is a fantastic safari destination with some of the most spectacular sights in Africa including the largest waterfall in the world, the Victoria Falls, and the south Luangwa National Park which boasts some amazing sights such as huge lion prides comprising of 30 lions or more, and over 400 species of birds. The best time to visit would be around the end of the dry season, around September or October.

South Africa - Covering over 18,000 square kilometers, the Kruger National Park in South Africa is not only the biggest game reserve in Africa, but also one of the biggest in the entire world. What makes this such a great place to go on safari is the huge number of species of mammals in the park. At 147 it is home to more species of mammals than any other reserve in Africa.
