Why Visit North America On A Cruise?

For those looking for a cruises package where you'll find a mix of tropical beaches and modern cities you might want to try North America. Both coasts contain everything from sun bathing to snow skiing with almost anything you can imagine in between. There are also historical sites, great food, and cultural diversity everywhere. This continent has been settled by immigrants from every region of the world so there is something here for everyone, no matter where you come from.

North America is comprised of a total of three countries, Canada, the United States, and Mexico. Each has its own charm and a selection of cruises to choose from. In Canada the north coast offers trips to the Arctic Circle while both the East and West Coasts have port cities that send out ocean and island cruises mostly during the summer months. There are winter cruises available in some areas but they are mainly day trips for whale watching or fishing trips.

The United States is a melting pot of cultures and a land where you can choose either cold winter cruises or tropical excursions to white sandy beaches. The East Coast is the most popular for the latter, with the ports of Florida sending cruise ships year-round into the Caribbean. There are however many cruise ships stationed on the West Coast also, leaving the ports of San Diego and Los Angeles daily for tropical destinations in Mexico and Central America.

Trans-Atlantic cruises have gone out of style but when they were popular they were dominated by liners like the Queen Elizabeth II and the SS France. Both have been decommissioned but the Queen Mary II is still sailing and can be seen in the East Coast ports of Boston and New York when she is in the United States. These northern cities also offer local cruises to other eastern cities like Washington DC, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Atlanta.

If you are in California or one of the other West Coast states of Oregon or Washington you can find cruises that go to destinations in the Pacific and the Indian Ocean. Any ship that sails from the United States to Japan, China, Australia or the Philippines will originate from one of the major West Coast ports like San Francisco or Seattle. You can also book cruises that travel along the West Coast either north or south, trips filled with scenery and ports of call with lots of shopping and entertainment.
