Since The world became a smaller place, more people travel. Seeing the world is the aim but a major part of the trip is your accommodation. Where are you going to stay. The first thought that comes to mind might be as cheap as possible. What does cheap really mean in this context?
Cheap.
In the world of electronic cheap mostly meant you are going to have to buy a new, more expensive item since the cheap one you bought broke. But I said that was in the past. Products coming from China are cheap in comparison with the rest of the world. But as we all found out, the DVD player might not have a fancy front but it works.
Cheap Hotels
Is cheap in the sense of accommodation different from buying cheap products?
In a sense it is in that accommodation can not break. But while it also can not break your banking account, it can break your spirit. Cheap accommodation has a ring to it that many people do not like. You can imagine an empty room with two beds and nothing else but a bathroom with a dirty toilet and a shower without a curtain. Is Cheap really just that?
Cheap but Good
There is a slight risk when going for cheaper accommodation in the sense that you can get something you did not expect. The irony is that in my experience I have found some excellent accommodation and Hotels that are so called cheap.
Most of them have less facilities to advertise on their brochures and the carpets are old with dirt marks on them. But when you open the room it is clean and you have everything you need to prepare yourself for a day of sightseeing. The truth is that it is a matter of preference. How many people that travel use the squash court or the sauna or the massage room? Do you need a curio shop and do you even see the chocolate or mint on your pillow? I doubt it because they end up in your bag and you bring them home for the kids.
Cheap Hotels are certainly excellent places to stay. They cater for the person that wants to spend his money seeing the country and only wants a place to freshen up. My father always said that it is good to have a house with a swimming pool but you do not stay in the pool. Remember that the lift might be old and the carpets have dirt marks but you do not sleep in the lift nor eat on the carpets.
