Try to be a part of what your church is planning. It can be a holiday musical, play, or Christmas dinner. You will have the double benefit of contributing to your community and enjoying the company of your church family. You will find it to be a fun and satisfying experience for everyone involved.

Make decorating your home for the holidays a family event. You can have everyone help with putting up the tree, decorating the halls and living room, putting up light on the outside of house and ornaments on the front lawn. You don't have to spend much. You just need to find something everyone in your family will do. You not only make your home beautiful in time for the holidays, you also have the opportunity to have everyone do something that they are proud of.

Have a holiday meal together. In my family the holiday meal isn't a formal event. Everyone just gets together makes the different dishes and on the big day and sits down to enjoy it after giving thanks. It doesn't even have to be a dinner meal. It can be a holiday breakfast or a late lunch. Just the fact of sitting down and enjoying a meal together is enough.

Make Christmas Day an event that involves more than opening presents. One of the suggestions I have already mentioned is having a big meal. Of course, you can also try going to a Christmas Day service. Try to pack the day with activities like a game event or movie marathon. This will make the event one that is more satisfying and enjoyable for everyone involved. The point is to make as many great memories on this day as possible. Also don't forget to take a lot of pictures and video to commemorate the event.
