7 Top Holiday Destinations

Located in the Mediterranean Sea, Majorca is a very popular island for holiday makers because it's a great place to travel to for cheap holidays. Travelling around the island is simple and easy either by the many buses or hire cars. Gran Canaria

This unique Canary Island situated in the Atlantic Ocean, gives you the best of two worlds as it located near both Africa and Europe. If you want to see some amazing sights look no further, in Palmitos Park you can discover over 160 different species of cactus plants, 42 varieties of palm trees and a great bird show. It's situated in the north of the island in Maspalomas. The park is also a botanical garden and aviary, not only can you see over 1,500 exotic bird species you can also check out the aquarium that holds some of its crocodiles. Other parks on this island include - Aqualand, Aquapark and Reptilandia Park.

Throughout the year in Gran Canaria there are many parties along the streets of the island. Some of the festivals include Fiesta del Carmen in mid-July, where all the ports on the island celebrate the Virgin Mary (the patron saint of all fishermen). These parties can last up to a week, during this time fishermen take the statue of the patron saint out to sea. Therefore no matter what time of year you decide to go, you're bound to catch at least one of its famous festivals.

Dalaman

A destination quickly growing in popularity, Dalaman in the southwest of Turkey and is known for its amazing mountainous scenery. Continuous investment into its airport and roads have helped make it more accessible to tourists, as well as the locals.

One thing you must do in Dalaman is discover the ancient tombs hidden in the Limestone Mountains of Dalyan (approximately 24 km from Dalaman). While in this area you could also visit Iztuzu Beach, which is said to be the 6th famous beach in the world. You may even catch a glimpse of a sea turtle; the area is considered a sanctuary for these gentle creatures. Make sure your haggling skills are up to scratch, because in Dalaman when shopping in the majority of the markets you need to know the art to obtain a bargain price for your items. Some of the local markets include Marmaris and Ortaca.

Sharm El Sheikh

Located between the Red Sea and Mount Sinai, Sharm El Sheikh is one of the more touristy cities in Egypt. There is an excellent choice of package holiday deals offered by many travel agents, which can help you go to the major attractions in the area for free as the price is included in the package.

Sharm El Sheikh is well known for its amazing diving, crystal clear waters and beautiful tropical fishes. Experience the water up close, as there are many water sporting activities for you to try that include diving; wind surfing snorkeling and scuba diving.

You can't travel to Egypt without visiting and exploring the historic pyramids, you certainly won't regret it. There are a huge amount of ancient pyramids and monuments scattered around the country; you may even have a good view of them out of your hotel window.

Fuerteventura

Fuerteventura is the second largest and possibly the most beautiful of the Canary Islands. It's known for its colourful, sandy beaches such as Caleta de Fuste. The strong summer winds make Fuerteventura a haven for watersport enthusiasts. If you're lucky while out on the water you may catch a glimpse of some dolphins, turtles or whales. Other than its waters, Fuerteventura has astonishing landscape and volcanic mountains which are a popular tourist attraction. Pay a visit the local markets to experience some traditional Spanish trading.


Lanzarote

All inclusive holidays to Lanzorote are highly recommended for UK holidaymakers, due to the amount this fantastic island has to offer. Lanzarote is the fourth largest of the Canary Islands and has an amazing mountainous origin. Why not check out the historic ship wreckage at Arrecife, where you can find out the mysteries of this powerful vehicle of the sea. One thing you must do here is to explore the lands at LaTimanfaya National Park, which strictly protects the country's flora and fauna. Tenerife

Make sure you don't miss the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, it's one of the world's largest carnivals; get your dancing shoes ready as this event is going to blow your mind.

Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands. It's volcanic origins mean there are still some amazing volcanic structures remaining on the island. Due to its size Tenerife has many extraordinary features including valleys and ravines, two of the most famous are Valle de La Orotava and Valle de Gmar.

The island has some ancient, must see monuments that include Cathedral of San Cristbal de La Laguna, the Church of the Conception of La Laguna, Cave Achbinico, Museum of the History of Tenerife and Gmar Pyramids If your very lucky you might come across the unique lizard species indigenous to Tenerrife, the Gallotia galloti.

The buzzing nightlife in Tenerife is famous around the world. Some great nightlife spots include Soul Caf, Leonardo's, Tramps, Rags, Player's Lounge and Voodoo Lounge. Tenerife is one of the greatest destinations all year round to find last minute holidays, prices are generally fairly cheap.
