The Sunshine Coast Queensland is a popular holiday destination with a cornucopia of attractions for interested visitors. The coast stretches from Caloundra, an hour north of Brisbane by car to Cooloola near Fraser Island which is the largest sand island in the world with 200 lakes. It also encompasses a hinterland including the Glass House Mountains, Blackall Range, the Noosa Hinterland and the Mary Valley; as well as more than 60 miles of beaches. Besides the obvious natural attractions, there are many man made destinations worth exploring. The weather here is sublime almost all year round with sunshine around 300 days a year and temperatures ranging from 69.8 -84.2 degree Fahrenheit (21-29 degrees Celsius), so it is never a bad time to come down here and relax yourselves. The renowned Noosa regions main beach is one of the few north-facing beaches in Australia. There is Noosa National Park with the Noosa River meandering by lakes to the Noosa Everglades. The Noosa Coastal Hinterland has peaceful lakes, forests offset by dramatic volcanic formations with stunning views. The Old Pomona Railway Station Art Gallery shows works by local artists. The Cooroy Heritage Walk will take you through timber logging history. Boating opportunities, playgrounds in the parklands are just part of family friendly Mooloolabas offerings. The ex-HMAS Brisbane is in the vicinity of Mudjimba Island known for the different aquatic species that can be seen by diving down here. Cooloola National Park contains the Cooloola Wilderness Trail. The gold rush city of Gympie will share its history. A spot of gold hunting can be had here as well. The WoodWorks Forestry and Timber Museum also has working craftsmen to watch.
The volcanic beauty of the Glass House Mountains is not to be missed. The Australia Zoo, Reptile Park and Air Museum are sure to please the kids. The Blackall Range has more natural beauty of the area.
The Mary Valley and its forests, local towns can be savored via the Kenilworth Forest Drive. Or, if you still have energy you can hike or ride through the Conondale Range. The Mary Valley Heritage Railway is for those who want to put their feet up and take in the scenery a more relaxing way.
Your entertainment has many destinations
You will be entertained by the theme parks with an educational and cultural twist. UnderWater World located in Mooloolaba offers a range of underwater habitats and a glass tunnel to bring you into the marine environment. The Ginger Factory is about ginger and you can ride on its historic train. The Big Pineapple is a working pineapple plantation. The Superbee Honey Factory is about honeys glories and fairytale attractions for the younger children. The Ettamogah Pub is a cartoon venture. Medieval castle at Bli Bli is quite a sight. While water sporting experiences are to be had at Ski & Skurf. You can race on the ground at the Big Kart Track and speed off the ground at the Bungy Bullet, or you can parachute at Skydive Ramblers. For a change of pace Nostalgia Town will take you down memory lane of Australian history. The area's golf courses includes the Club Pelican Greg Normans designed challenge. You can join the racing spectators at the Corbould Park races, which is also among the many charms of this region.
The Sunshine Coast Regional Councils website has links to the thirteen visitor information centers for tourists. Opening hours are generally from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm, seven days a week. They are closed only on Good Friday and Christmas Day. There are so many things to do, so many ways to enjoy yourselves here on the sunshine coast Queensland.
