The welsh countryside has lots to offer the active holiday maker
The holiday destination choice for adrenaline junkies is usually somewhere like New Zealand where you can go sky diving or bungee jumping, or perhaps Africa to go on a jeep safari. All good and high on the extreme excitement scale but let's face it, those trips don't come cheap! Another, more cost effective solution for today's financial climate is one of the many beautiful and cosy Welsh cottagesavailable to let.

They feature as a key part of the little villages that support local businesses, including the friendly local pub and shops. You don't get brash theme hotels, you don't need or want them here and, more to the point you can't build them in the UK's third National park! Plus, with all the activities you'll be experiencing by day, you'll really appreciate the quiet, relaxing atmosphere that traditional, cosy Welsh cottages supply.
With one of the many Snowdonia cottages available to you, you can have a bolt hole to relax and warm up in and more importantly dry your clothes before the next day's adventure. There's certainly nothing more depressing than trying to hang out your wet things in a hotel room and believe me you won't want to miss that next day's adventure!
Now your Welsh cottages are shortlisted and your journey is planed you can start to think about what you want to do. Most people come to hike or climb Snowdon, which is a truly fantastic peak. It's easily accessible for even the most reluctant walker, has a wealth of wildlife and some stunning views.
The fun needn't be limited to ground level either; there are plenty of other things above and below ground to choose from. Pot-holing is available for the more daring holiday maker but, if that isn't your thing, how about underground abseiling? You can also take a tour of some of the many slate mines that may have supplied the slates on your roof at home and certainly cover the roofs of all the Welsh cottages in the region.
If underground isn't quite your cup of tea perhaps up is better than down? You could tackle a high ropes course through the forest at Betws-y-Coed or if that isn't high enough, take a leap of faith and try your luck at hand or paragliding. Perhaps you'd like to get even higher still? Take in the sight of Snowdon, England and Wales' highest peak, from a helicopter. On a clear day you'll get some impressive views of the stunning countryside with villages dotted around made up of Snowdonia cottagesand country pubs just waiting to refresh you after your adventures!
