New Flight Routes Boost For 2011 Tenerife Holiday Market
Some good news for Tenerife has come from the UK recently, with the announcement that more airports will be including the sunshine island among their destinations available for holidaymakers. And with job losses high in the public sector, along with the private enterprise sector seeing negative growth recently, a drop in flight prices along with closer to home airports could see Tenerife welcoming more British tourists this year than last.

Three airports have the new route - Glasgow in Scotland, benefitting a high proportion of the country, Manchester in the North-West of England, and for those in the West Country Bristol Airport will have Tenerife flights with well known budget airline easyJet.
In March easyJet start their route from Bristol in April, while Jet2.com start operations from Glasgow in April in time for the Easter holidays, with Ryanair providing flights to Tenerife in time for the summer. The airline withdrew from Manchester a couple of years ago citing high operating costs, and their return will be a welcome boost for the local economy and for Tenerife's hotels and holidays industry too.
The airline's chief executive Michael O'Leary, who is often in the news generating publicity for Ryanair, said that the four routes including Tenerife would attract 600,000 passengers and safeguard 600 jobs at Manchester Airport. It will have a similar impact on the island with more rooms being taken at the Tenerife hotels and other tourist related activities.
He commented that 'There's no doubt if we bring 600,000 new passengers here to Manchester this year, it's about 5% traffic growth for the airport in one stroke.'
'You will need more people to handle these flights, to do the check-in, the baggage. So there will be a mix I think of jobs saved and jobs created.'
With low cost flights, the opportunity of cheap Tenerife holidays becomes more possible, and some of the resorts are often quoted with the main tour operators who serve the island in their late deals and other promotions.
Costa Adeje is one of the quieter areas on the south coast that might want to be considered for example. It is close to all amenities, shopping and the beach, yet far enough away from the main hub of excitement to allow peaceful relaxation. Shops offer a wide variety of holidaymaker essentials, along with souvenirs at duty free prices. Costa Adeje has a wide variety of hotels from bed and breakfast establishments through to good 4 star purpose built ones.
Well known Playa de las Americas has the busiest nightlife of any resort on the south coast of the island. Many nightclubs, bars and restaurants play host to a variety of live performances every night. On the strip, it is very easy to move from bar to bar to find the types of music, drinks or entertainment you are looking for. The party lover will be at home at Playa de las Americas, and is perhaps best not suited for a family trip if children are among the party.
Los Cristianos has been welcoming tourists on their Tenerife holidays for over half a century now. Even though it is an older resort town, it maintains its quiet charm and sophisticated style. It is often referred to as a great spot for families due to its small town appeal and quiet beaches. The resort began as a fishing village and still holds a love of big game fishing today. Many locally owned fishing boats leave nearby docks each day. Tourists often find a new love and respect for fishing to be an unexpected part of their island trip.
With more availability from more airports, a trip to Tenerife will appeal to a lot of tourists in the summer.
