Who Goes on Women's Travel Tours?

During the past few years, women's travel has surged to become a thriving part of the travel industry. Women are flocking in droves to tours designed specifically for the fairer sex. But who would want to do this, and why?

For many singles, traveling in groups is easier, safer, and more enjoyable than traveling completely unaccompanied. It's no wonder, when you consider that there are now more single than married women for the first time in US history. Many of these women want to travel, and they choose not to let the lack of a partner stop them. Of course, they could simply travel alone. But, many people just aren't comfortable or don't have fun traveling solo. Besides, if you break out laughing all alone at a table for one, people might think you're rather strange!

Single women. If you've ever been the lone single person among a group of couples at a party, then you know how it feels to be the odd one out. Besides, who says you want to meet Jim from Sheboygan on some singles cruise either? You're not looking for a mate; you just want to enjoy your vacation!

Married women. It's not uncommon for married couples to have wildly different ideas about what makes an enjoyable vacation. For example, you might be daydreaming about seeing Michelangelo's David in Italy, while he's daydreaming about taking his fishing rod on a date with...a halibut.

Divorced women. If you don't have a husband to join you on your travels, this is no reason to stay home! In fact, the opposite is true. Many times, women find that during their married years they've largely gone along with what their husband wanted. Now that they're single, they finally feel free to do thing they've been looking forward to. Here I come, Greek Islands!

Widows. No matter how happy or sad your marriage may have been, you need to move on and make a life of your own. Getting out into the world and enjoying the sights with a group of women is a wonderful way to accomplish this. Sure, you could travel with your niece, but isn't it strange how relatives often want you to pay for their trip too?

Girlfriend getaways are also popular. You can gather up some good friends to take the ladies' night concept to the extreme. By vacationing with a group of women friends, you can truly relax, let your hair down, and be yourself. This is a great opportunity for talking about stuff that really matters, or just sharing laughter and fun.

Distant friends. Do you still keep in touch with your old college roommates or meet up every now and then? Or perhaps your sister lives a few states away, but you enjoy some time together from time to time. These types of getaways are ideal for maintaining these important relationships.

Mother " daughter. There's nothing like vacationing with your mom to help you see a different side of her. You may come to realize it's very different than having her keeping everyone else happy on a big family vacation. My mom came with me on a trip to Costa Rica, and it was a blast seeing her adventurous side.

The girls. So what if you live in the same town? There's no reason you can't get away for a while. Leave the kids home for a few days while you take a spa weekend with the girls! It's a great way to feel renewed, and not only because of the relaxing massage!

In reality, a women's trip has an entirely different feel than a mixed group. You can talk freely with your girlfriends in a totally uncompetitive atmosphere.

Our kayaking guide told us that women's groups always do well, but couples? Well, not so much. While they're supposed to be vacationing, enjoying the kayaking, they're often arguing instead. Who needs that? Perhaps there's a women's tour in your future!
