5 things not to miss in 2009 on the Isle of Wight

If you come to the Isle of Wight in 2009 there will be a lot for you to see and do, and you'll have to pack all of that into the time that you have there if you don't want to miss out on anything and regret not seeing it once you get back home. If you aren't staying long or you can't decide what you might want to see, there are five things that you definitely don't want to miss:
1.Appuldurcombe House – This is an 18th century mansion located outside of Ventnor. It's been partially restored and has eleven acres of gardens and beautiful grounds that you can enjoy. There is also an owl and falconry centre and a gift shop where you can pick up a great souvenir of your trip.
2.Bembridge Windmill – The windmill dates back to the early part of the eighteenth century and is the last one of its kind left on the Isle. The last time it was used for commercial purposes was back in 1913. Now you can get great views from it of the countryside around it and you can learn about history while you're there. Before you go there, get in touch with the owners and make sure that it's open and that there is access to it for anyone in your group that might need extra help.
3.Island Brass Rubbing Centre – To celebrate the medieval and Tudor heritage and the use of brass, guests can learn about the way that brass is made and get a souvenir to take home. Guests can also make a brass rubbing to take with them.
4.Isle of Wight Steam Railway – The route of this train takes you through the countryside and lets you see many sites, but it also takes you back to a more nostalgic time when steam trains were the way to go.
5.Marine Aquarium – If you want to see what life's like underwater, this is the place to go. There are fish of every kind and colour, and most of the displays focus on the kinds of fish that are found locally. There is also a planetarium and a model railway for you to enjoy while you're there.
