Why Visit?
Snowdonia is one of the most popular areas to visit in Wales thanks to its dramatic valleys and peaks. Snowdonia national park is a haven for outdoor lovers with walkers, mountain bikers and climbers all choosing to visit and stay in the area every year. As well as the region's mountains, Snowdonia is also home to some wonderful coastline to explore, historical buildings and quaint villages.

What to see
Serious and Casual walkers will want to visit Mount Snowdon in the National Park as it is the highest peak. Hardened walkers can brave the crags of Tryfan while the casual set can try Moel Siabod. Families with young children or anyone wants a very easy stroll can try the riverside path at Betws-y-Coed.
A more traditional day out of visiting the beach can be had at Fairbourne which is close to Abermaw.
If you are looking to try some water sports, you can head for Lake Bala situated in the National Park. This body of water stretches out for four miles on the SouthEastern edge of the park. Sports such as windsurfing, Kayaking and Sailing are available.

Where to eat and drink
Ale and Beers connoisseurs will love visiting the Purple Moose Brewery in Porthmadog. One of 30 microbreweries in Wales, you can taste one of the award winning ales and beers and see the process they use to create them.
Feeling peckish at lunch time, why not stop Wannabe's Coffee shop with excellent lunch specials and sandwiches or Plas-yn-dre who serve traditional British and Welsh dishes.
For evening meals you could try Stones Bistro in Caernarfon which is a romantic French bistro or the upscale restaurant Dylanwas Da in Dolgellau.

Getting there and when to visit
Obviously you can get to Snowdonia by car, but you can also catch a train to Porthmadog station from Birmingham, which takes an hour and twenty minutes. Once in Snowdonia BWS Gwyneed and Arriva Cymru run regular bus services between the major towns.
As for when to visit Snowdonia, the weather can be bad between October and January and the area can get busy during the summer.
