How to find cheap London hotels

Deciding to stay in London may seem like an expensive business, but searching online can save you time and money.

Many people can presume that staying in London will cost more than any other city break. However, by using the internet to your advantage, your trip can cost the same as any other trip, if not less.

It is widely known that shopping online is generally cheaper, with the best deals to be found on thousands of products, so why not choose to shop for your next trip to London online too?

Dedicated hotel booking sites can help you find the perfect location for your stay within your budget. Using an online hotel search means that you are free to look for a hotel that suits your needs by tailoring it to match your star, price and location criteria. It can also mean that you can read reviews and look at pictures of your hotel; going in to more depth than you would be able to with a travel agent.

Searching for a good deal is easier than you might think, hotel search engines will often advertise the best deals on their home page, make sure to check that the offer applies to your location and dates before taking advantage. There will also often be an option for you to sign up to email alerts for new offers, meaning that you can have the deals sent to you rather than having to check every day. Being signed up to the site can also often mean that you receive offers that you wouldn't normally, such as discount codes or late deals.

If the offers are not displayed on the home page, there will often be a ‘deals' or ‘special offers' tab which will list the London hotels on special offer.

Booking as close to your planned dates as possible can often mean that you can take advantage of ‘late deals,' although it will mean that you are restricted to certain dates, times and locations in order to receive the offer. They also often have terms and conditions attached including a ‘no cancellation' policy. If you are flexible it can often mean that you save a lot of money, but you must be certain that you are able to commit to the trip, as you could risk losing out if you have to cancel.
Being flexible with hotel bookings will also contribute to the price of your hotel stay, as you can pick the cheapest date available.

The benefits of using a dedicated hotel booking site over a travel agent or searching for hotels individually is that it allows you to search from a much wider range, from boutique hotels to honeymoon hotels and budget options, that you may not necessarily have found otherwise. Searching for a hotel can be done within seconds and you may have found the right hotel within minutes.

Booking the hotel yourself can also mean that you can sort out the best transport and events separately; finding the best deals for those will mean the total cost of your trip can be surprisingly low.

By shopping around online and putting your trip together yourself, you can end up grabbing yourself a bargain.
