Less than 500 days until the Olympic games in London

As the tickets are now on sale for the biggest sporting event in the world held next year in London, you may be wondering what you are going to do in terms of finding the ideal London accommodation.

It can be a difficult process with prices being fairly high whilst trying to be as close to the atmosphere as possible.

So what tips can we offer to help you decide on that perfect place to rest after a full day of watching top sporting events.

Start looking now!
If you think about it, there are going to be millions of people descending on England for the games and they all are going to need some form of hotel or accommodation to stay in.

These will book up fast and you need to start preparing as to where you are going to stay, or face heavy costs and potential disappointment.

You should plan out when it is you plan to go and how long you will want to be staying for so you can immediately start making inquiries.

There are many benefits to booking early too.
Some hotels are already offering early discounts for booking in the capital and as such could save you potentially hundreds of pounds when booking.

Venues outside of London

Be sure to check where the event you want to see is being held before you book your hotel as not all events are taking place in London. Football events for example will take place in Coventry City Stadium, Hampden Park in Glasgow, St James Park in Newcastle and the Millennium stadium in Cardiff. Other events will be held around the Country such as sailing in Weymouth and Portland, while Eton Dorney Lake, near Windsor Castle around 25 miles west of London will hold rowing events. Meanwhile Essex will be hosting the mountain bike race at a new course in Hadleigh farm.

Research the area you are visiting for the Olympics to make the most of your trip. For example visitors to Cardiff can explore the sights of the City while there, while those taking a trip to Weymouth can explore the fantastic beach and harbour.

The same rules apply whether you are booking a London hotel or a hotel for one of the other venues around the UK. Book early to avoid disappointment, and book online for the best hotel deals around.

Shop around!

It may seem like an obvious thing to do, but make sure that you are shopping around to ensure that you won't be overcharged.

You may think that you have found an absolute bargain for your stay in London, only to discover there was a better location just down the road for the same price.
The best way to accomplish this is through using hotel booking sites which offer a convenient way to browse through thousands of choices of hotels from the comfort of your own home.

Hotel booking sites often offer more competitive prices than booking with the hotel directly and they also allow you to search for your hotel with convenient options such as price, location or star rating.

This will also mean that you can survey the market a lot better than having to trudge through brochures or other conventional methods.

Have no fear is the main thing; you still should have plenty of time to find that ideal hotel location and enjoy the 2012 Olympics.
