If you have fallen in love with Spain then you might want to learn how to speak the language so that you can impress everyone with your skills and improve your communication. Who knows if you can speak Spanish then you might even want to move out there to live forever! It's completely up to you, once you can speak Spanish the world really is your oyster!

There are several different sounds which are not found in the English alphabet, these include ch (pronounced che), ll (pronounced elle) and n (pronounced ene). These are the only different sounds, the rest of the sounds are very similar!
Letters of the alphabet
There is actually a certain amount of controversy over the letters included in the Spanish alphabet. Especially the letters w and k, these letters are not normally used in any Spanish words, unless they have been translated by a foreign translator and incorporated into the language. Some Spanish alphabets also include the letter rr, this makes a much stronger r sound which rolls off the tongue.
The right order
If you get yourself a Spanish dictionary then you might find yourself getting more confused than it's worth. Some older dictionary's will include the words in different orders to modern dictionaries which can make it very confusing to use.
There are many other sounds made in the Spanish language which depend on the accent. The accent is actually different in different areas of the country, and so this can get even more confusing. Vowels such as o e and u can have accents applied in some areas.
The sound of Spanish Letters
I'm pretty sure that as you're reading this you will speak English pretty well, and so you should already be aware of quite a few Spanish words. Actually the two languages come from the same place, they just took a different path. Some of the spellings might be different, but pronunciation and spelling is similar. For example baby in English is Bebe in Spanish. The pronunciation is slightly different, but you should be able to understand what is being said.
When you can pronounce many of the sounds used in the Spanish language you should then be able to start learning some real Spanish words. When you've mastered the language then it will be great on your ext trip to Spain! And if you never plan on going then it will still come in handy at one time or another! Who knows, learning Spanish could be great fun.
The best part about visiting Spain is getting to see the Spanish people, many of these are very friendly and warm and welcoming to all visitors. They will enjoy and appreciate that you are trying to speak their language even if it's not very good, so give it a go!
