Many Spanish cities are very historic, and have a number of cultural and historic aspects in them. You should spend time thinking about the right cities to visit for your trip so that you can make the most out of it. Barcelona for example is a very popular city with modern buildings alongside some of the old buildings! Cities along the Costa Blanca have lots of beaches and nice weather.
Language and Travel in Spain
The Spanish language is very different to what you are familiar with in America and the rest of Europe. The most popular version of Spanish spoken is known as Castilian, this is very similar to other European languages such as Portuguese and Italian. There are many other versions of the language including Basque, Galician and Catalan.
The most popular route into Spain is through one of the countries international airports, there are a number of these located throughout the country. These airports are served by the majority of the large carriers.
To see the rest of the country when you get there then you can travel around by bus, or in a hire car. The larger cities have pretty good transportation. This is one of the most affordable and easiest ways to get around.
If you are interested in hiring a car then you can hire one at the airport, or one of the many car rental shops littered throughout the country. There are a number of different companies, to compare these you can spend some time looking on the internet or talking to your travel agent.
Food & Somewhere to stay
There are loads of different places to eat in Spain, you can either eat in large cities but there are also plenty of restaurants in smaller cities too. If you like seafood then you should consider visiting coastal areas; this has lots of very fresh seafood. Meat is also a very popular type of food in Spain, and most restaurants serve both meat and fish.
The best thing about Spanish restaurants is that they don't often serve frozen food; most of the food is high quality fresh produce. Spanish food benefits from the use of only the best and highest quality ingredients, few preservatives or anything else are used.
If you like drinking then you will find that there are plenty of bars up and down the country.
