Madrid Spain has what is popularly known as a 'hippie quarter.' This district is located in Lavapies. Just head north to Gran Via, this is Madrid's premier design district. This is one area where the shopping never stops. There are all kinds of impromptu vendors around Plaza Mayor Spain, which has always been the center of life in Madrid. If you arrive during the week, the area will be less crowded. However, there are fewer bargains. On the weekend, tourists and Spaniards are everywhere and there's a lot more to choose from. Other shopping destinations include Alcal, where shoes, dresses. This area contains the latest aisles. Your trip to Spain is certain to earn you praise with a gift for those you love. High fashion clothing stores, upscale and luxury shops mixed in with unique gift stores on Serrano.
Here you be able to buy a gift for the special someone in your life who couldn't join you in Madrid. Find this shopping district at the Sole or the Sevilla stations on the Metro.Now, begin shopping for the men in your life. Go to the Calle Princessa where you'll discover numerous price levels and other bargains. There are suits, and shoes, available. Take the Metro to Argelles and Ventura Rodrguez. At the Metro Sol stop, you find Calle Preciados or Calle Montera.
It's strictly pedestrians-only. You find everything from regular fashions to designer's apparel. Don't forget to look at El Cortes Ingles; this is Madrid Spain's premier department store. One other travel destination you don't want to miss while on holiday. Find Mercado de San Miguel. This store use to be Madrid's premier fish market. However, today it offers a number of small boutiques offering fresh fruits, vegetables and more. After all this shopping, you'll need more food!
