The appeal of skiing La Plagne and Les Arcs in Paradiski

The powdered pistes of Paradiski offer some world class skiing for beginners and veterans of the white stuff alike. The Paradiski ski area is situated in the Tarentaise Valley in the French Alps, offering uninterrupted skiing between the areas of Les Arcs, Peisey-Vallandry and La Plagne. The area has been linked since December 2003, by the Vanoise Express. In total, over these three resorts there are 160 lifts and 425km of pistes, with 152 green/blue runs, 79 red runs, and for those with a healthy disregard for safety, 22 black runs.

"Snowsure, high-altitude skiing. Good terrain for all standards and abundant off-piste opportunities." -- Ski Club of Great Britain

France's appeal as a ski destination attracts winter sports enthusiasts the world over. And is it any wonder? The Alps has vast and well linked spaces such as Paradiski with endless miles of smooth, slopping pistes. The skiing is complimented by the relaxed attitude off-piste. Without the pretention of many ski resorts evidenced throughout Europe.

Les Arcs and La Plagne are also a gastronomic powerhouse with restaurants for all budget and palates. Added to the numerous ‘fromagerie' (traditional mountain cheese!) ‘caves du vin' (wine shops), and other local ‘Savoyarde' mountain produce, there's a veritable feast available in between skiing and drinking! The nightlife isin abundance, allowing you to enjoy some time away from the slopes with a fruity bottle of red. Caution should of course be exercised when returning to the slopes after Après-ski. Although I often do some of my best skiing following a bottle of said fermented grapes, this rule is not universally applicable. In fact it applies to no one else I have ever met; so don't be silly, don't do it. Have a ‘demi pression' (the local half a beer) instead, and return to the slopes with your eyesight intact.

Despite the sometimes poor exchange rate there are still some excellent deals to be had on accommodation. SnowChateaux have some of the finest Les Arcs and La Plagne ski chalets available in the area, offering spacious, well equipped rooms and architecture befitting the beauty of this alpine region. SnowChateaux's chalets are available on a catered or self-catered basis, so the decision is yours; depending of course on how lazy you plan on being during your holiday. And what's more, Paradiski offers a safe haven from some of the absurd prices you are going to be subjected in the likes of Val d'Isere and Courchevel, making a La Plagne skiing holiday perfect whatever your budget.

Visit Paradiski and you can enjoy:
• A massive interlinked ski area
• All grades of piste, with slopes for absolute beginners, and legendary off piste for seasoned pros
• Good food and even better wine available at very reasonable prices for such a World Class resort
• Resorts suitable for families, beginners and experts alike
• Alpine centres with a long history of winter sports and mountaineering. The Paradiski area is a proud x- Olypmic venue.

One criticism of French ski resorts is the overpriced accommodation, however, take a look at SnowChateaux's Les Arcs & La Plagne ski chalets for inexpensive and luxuriously furnished chalets suitable for small to large groups.
