Things to Do In Edinburgh
One of Great Britain's most interesting destinations is Edinburgh, Scotland. Flights to Edinburgh are plentiful found online or through your local travel agent. There are many wonderful sights and events to be found in the Scottish highland city of Edinburgh.

Here are a few of the main attractions that are a must see in this quaint, historical and surprisingly modern city.
Begin with a walking tour of the Royal Mile in the heart of the city. This will give you a feel for the city and the shops along the way will entice and delight you. Cashmere sweaters are a specialty of this city.
Sightseeing will include the Scottish Parliament building at Holyrood . This spectacular modern building, was designed by the Catalan architect Enric Moralles. The Palace of Holyrood House is nearby and was the former residence of Mary, Queen of Scots.
The Scottish National Gallery will delight all ages of tourists. The Galleries are spread out in three different buildings, so plan your day accordingly. If you are interested in a more contemporary style of art, the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art is the perfect venue.
The Royal Botanical Gardens, founded in the 17th century is spread out over four different gardens, and boasts a wide variety of plants from all over the world. It has been used as an education and science center.
The Scott Monument is a tribute to the great Scotsman and author, Sir Walter Scott. The monument was paid for by public monies and houses a tribute to Scott's life inside. A climb up the decorative spires provides a fabulous view of the city of Edinburgh.
The Royal Yacht Britannia is another site to put on your list. Home to the Royal family when they were travelling the world, you can see the style of Queen Elizabeth II reflected in the décor of the 1950's. Decommissioned in 1997, she now sits permanently moored in Ocean Terminal.
A day trip to visit the Loch Ness Monster is considered to be one of the highlights of the region. The Scottish highlands are known for their beauty and spectacular scenic appeal.
The Fringe festival has become famous the world over for artists, musicians and emerging pop culture icons. This festival takes place each year in August, when the main thorough fare, the Royal Mile is closed to traffic and the street festival takes over. The Royal Mile ends at Edinburgh Castle.
