Food and drink in Northumberland

Northumberland’s natural environment is ideal for producing great food and drink, whether it is from the countryside of the Tyne Valley or the Cheviots heather covered hills. Other local delicacies include Doddington Ice Cream that comes from the grazing cows in the pastures near the Cheviot Hills, Redesdale Sheep’s cheese and Alnwick Rum. Fans of real ales will be delighted when they try a pint of Holy Island or Matfen Magic which are produced by some of Northumberland’s top independent brewers.
