If you travel somewhere and see on the bottle: Kaberne Sovinjon or Bordeaux: that's the same: Cabernet Sauvignon.
In Bordeaux, France Merlot and Cabernet Franc is very good, but "noble grape" as people named it even better.
Notwithstanding that recorded as present in the Bordeaux region since at least the 17th century, parental provenance has always been unsure.
The grape is also the main ingredient in blends for many of the most famous red wines in the world. The wine is fairly cold-hardy, although it acclimates slowly and sometimes can be injured by cold winter freezes.
It can be spicy, cedar aromatic or blackcurrant. If somebody planted it in warmer area than it has benefit regarding aromas, but we have to consider that every technique and area makes different tastes. Your first taste shows it right away.
Above mentioned aromas also findable in the New World, but are more often dominated by chocolate, ripe berries, oak, pepper and earth. Hardly to believable but it is truth in Australia, there is chance to find in wines a strong smell of eucalyptus.
As I mentioned this re wine produced in every country. Very popular ones come from New Zealand, Italy, South America, but in the U.S. 16 percent of the wine sale was from Californian Cabernet Sauvignons.
The aging potential can be upwards of 10-20 years, though 5 to 9 years is more usual. While high tannin provides strong structure and age-ability, many vintners choose to blend it with low-tannin, fleshy-tasting grapes, such as Syrah in Australia. Cabernet Sauvignons are dry, full flavored and made to be long lived for many labels. We found in it without exception: berry, currant and chassis or herbaceous, bell pepper and toasty oak aromas and flavors (like minty, tobacco cedar chocolate).
It is not a question that this is the best wine of the world. Cheers!
