Top reasons to holiday in the UK rather than abroad this summer

A lot of people who live in the UK think that they have to take their holidays abroad for them to be any fun, but this couldn't be farther from the truth. Travelling can be stressful, especially if you're going with young children in tow. If you want to avoid some of that stress the best thing to do is just stay in the UK and take your holidays here.

You can find plenty to do and see if you look around, and you'll avoid many of the problems that you'd be facing otherwise, if you tried to holiday a long way from home. First and foremost you'll avoid long train rides, long car rides, and airports. Sure, you'll have to travel a little bit, but you won't have to be stuck in a vehicle for hours on end with restless children or a crying infant, and what you do, where you go, and how fast you get there can be a little bit more flexible if you plan it yourself. Getting away from big travel headaches can go a long way toward making your holiday better. That's not the only reason to stay in the UK, though. Another reason is to have the chance to really explore your own country.

If you haven't been all over the country that you actually live in, how do you know what you might be missing? You'll have something new to see, but you'll also have the familiarity of your own country. If your children forget something or if they have food that they love, those kinds of things will be available to them, and it won't be as foreign or as stressful of an experience. This familiarity is also important for people who are anxious travellers, because they often want to take a family holiday but don't feel comfortable going far from home.

Not everyone likes sunbathing holidays, either, and in the UK it can rain quite a lot. However, there is always so much to do that you won't need to be worried about the fact that it's raining. There are museums, zoos, parks, shops, and great places to eat. Even if you only travel a couple of hours away from home it can feel familiar and different at the same time, and make for a great holiday. Adults and children alike can both enjoy a holiday that remains in the UK, no matter what they like to do.
