Annual Travel Insurance Protects You No Matter Your Destinations
Is travel insurance a good idea? That is a question every traveler wonders. Here are some factors to consider.

If an emergency happens on your vacation, you want to be able to recover the costs of your trip. Depending on destinations, it may be very difficult to get home. However, travel insurance can be expensive. That's why many travelers balk at buying it.
You can still get excellent insurance cover even on a budget. One alternative is to buy annual travel insurance, rather than single-trip coverage. If you travel more than once a year, this is a great option as one annual payment covers you for the entire year. This payment is often far less expensive than that for single trips.
To start looking for travel insurance, contact the provider of other insurance policies you have. Those insurance companies may be able to quote you a lower rate because you are an established customer. Your auto club membership may include discount travel insurance. Also ask local travel agents for recommendations. It is always a good idea to get recommendations from friends and family members. That way you know the information is unbiased.
You can easily find inexpensive travel insurance online. It may seem difficult to choose a good policy. Your best bet is to choose a large, well-established company that has offices worldwide. The company should have an easy-to-use telephone number for emergency use. You should be able to use the number anytime, day or night. There should also be a toll-free number for non-emergency policy-holder questions.
How much coverage do you need? Never pay more than 10 percent of the cost of your trip (or trips if you are buying annual coverage). There should be a clear refund policy, so read the terms and conditions of your policy carefully before you buy it.
Good travel insurance should cover flight cancellations, significant flight delays, loss of luggage, medical emergencies that occur during the trip and evacuation support in the event of a natural disaster.
It is best to get your travel insurance well before your departure date. If you buy a policy at the airport, you will undoubtedly pay more and you won't have a chance to really study the policy or compare it with those of other companies.
Many people are tempted to forego travel insurance because they feel the money would be wasted. It may seem that way if nothing untoward happens during your trip. However, consider that the policy covers you and your loved ones when you are far away from home, even in a foreign country. Wouldn't it be nice to know that if the worst happens to you, you are prepared? A travel insurance policy is a small price to pay for piece of mind.
