A Florida beach vacation is one of the most soothing ways to recharge your run down batteries. Florida is home to some of the finest tropical beaches in the world, and the awards won for the standards of excellence set by the Floridian shorelines are the envy of the travel world. The beaches get all the attention, but don't forget about the enticing fresh foods that abound. Local produce is served far and wide and there are dishes to suit all tastes.
You can surf, dive, fish and shop 'till you drop, but if it is the beaches that you long to luxuriate on, then here are 3 Florida beach vacation destinations that you shouldn't overlook.
Daytona Beach is billed as the "world's most famous beach", and with good reason. The width of the beach itself and the tightly packed sand is a sight to behold. But Daytona offers much more, the Museum of Arts and Sciences is an excellent way to spend some time, followed by Volusia Mall or the Ocean Walk Shops for a little retail therapy.
Ft Lauderdale Beach: If you only go to this vacation destination to see the award winning wavewall and the promenade, you won't have wasted your time. The wavewall itself extends for an amazing two miles along the main part of the beach and has become one of the signature sites of Ft. Lauderdale. If you like to people-watch, you definitely won't want to miss the elevated promenade for a leisurely walk.
My special favorite is definitely Clearwater Beach. It may have something to do with the scrumptious stone crab claws served at Frenchy's restaurant. But dinner aside, the sea here is some of the most wonderful I have ever swum in. There is no such thing as a quick dip here, once you're in you will not want to come out. Whatever you do, don't forget to stroll over to the pier at the end of the day, for a celebration.
While you can travel the globe, a Florida beach vacation is difficult to beat.
