Great Things To See In Essex

Essex is one of the most populous countries in the United Kingdom. It lies on the Northeast of Greater London. Much of the area in Essex is part of the metropolitan green belt which forbids development.

It is a county embedded in history so there are a lot of places to go and see. The most historical of all these places is the Audey End House. It is located south of Cambridge and consists of 3 large courtyards, 30 towers, 750 rooms and huge formal gardens.

If you are longing for beaches then Frinton-on-the-Sea is a good place to visit. You can book huts on the beach which have kitchenettes attached. The local laws have forbidden the commercial enterprises to destroy the scenic beauty of the area.

Essex's most intriguing landmark is the Layer Marney Tower which was built over four hundred years ago. The Tower is 80 feet high and consists of 8 storeys. It overshadows the entire landscape, which is a crop-growing farmland.

If you want to delve more into the historical roots of Essex then try visiting Colchester castle. It is the oldest town in Great Britain. The close association with the English Civil war makes this place famous too.

'Constable Country' consists of the Flat-ford Mill and the lower end of the Stour River. This was named after the great English landscape painter who painted this area in the 19th century. You can cross the river (into Suffolk) and get good views back at the buildings around Flatford Mill from a track along the banks.

Castle Hedingham was built in the 12th century. Visitors can go and see this structure because it has been restored by its owners for tourism. It is famous for having one of the largest stone-made archways in England.

So while you are trotting in Essex don't forget to see all these places. There are many more historical and ancients that are not covered here. Don't forget to visit the local tourism office to get rest of the information.
