How To Use Your Teaching Salary To Travel

It is everyone's knowledge that the teaching salary of instructors is small. No wonder we often hear complaints about it because in reality it is not sufficient to feed their families. As a teacher myself, I empathize with it because I do understand their situation and there is no denying that, indeed, they are so underpaid.

In spite of salary issues and concerns, don't let this be a hindrance to do anything you want. For instance, one thing in which I strongly believe is traveling. Perhaps you might question how your pay can be enough for that sight seeing you have been wanting to take. You might even digress from the sheer idea because traveling for one is expensive. Let me show how you can fit your salary into a possible out of town experience.

Tip # 1: Plan ahead. Planning is so essential in traveling most especially if you are on a tight budget. If you want to reserve a plane or boat ticket, better do it months before the expected travel date. Hotel reservations must also be done in a likewise manner. After all the cost of it will be way cheaper compared to immediate reservations. As far as possible, do not travel during peak season. Take months or more to plan. Another thing to consider is to ensure that you already estimate the potential expenses. List of breakdowns, for example, how much would probably spend on tickets, lodging, meals and the like. At least you will be able to measure and save beforehand the desired amount.

Tip # 2: Budget thoroughly. If you already have a trip in mind the next big thing to worry is the budget. If your salary is quite small, better save it first for the trip. Assign a specific amount each pay day and put it under your travel money. If you already have a month or even a date, divide the total possible cost with how much you need to saved and the number of paydays more. If you will set aside more than half of your salary for that trip, it is best to move it to another year. It is not necessary to commit the necessary expenses for one trip only. Learn to give first a little patience and time for you to have enough on that much coveted trip.

Tip # 3: Be open to compromises. In order to enjoy a vacation you need not be on another island or continent to begin with. If you really want a tour, especially during this summer, just head out of town and stay on the beach as close to your home as possible. At least with this, you can definitely save more because you do not spend much and still have that relaxing atmosphere with you.

Traveling is not only for professionals with higher pay. Teachers can also enjoy such privilege. It may not be grade compared to those who can afford, but nonetheless, the thought is still there. We travel because we want to see new things, new cultures and to enjoy ourselves. Thus, any teaching salary need not be a hindrance to make this dream into a reality.
