Wedding venues, homes, apartments and more -- Northwest Portland is the place to scope them out. This area has some of the most beautiful homes in the entire city. That being said, it's one of the most urban parts of Portland. It's coveted for its easy access to Downtown, where all the action is. To be sure, from the Northwest you can walk or bike to any metro or bus line to all points Portland.
To the east is Laurelhurst. This was one of Portland's first planned neighborhoods and planned in such a way as to avoid the predictable city-grid pattern. The street are intentionally curved, with single-family homes peppered throughout. It tends to be much more subdued than Northwest Portland and is considered to be one of the city's most exclusive areas -- as evidenced by the average cost of a home.
Heading south, we come to Sellwood. Nestled along the banks of the Willamette River, Sellwood also borders Downtown. This haven for antiques lends itself to the more playful residents. Think of it as a kind of San Francisco or Austin of Portland. It's a peaceful neighborhood that boasts some of the oldest and largest homes in the city. If tranquility is a premium for you, then look no further than Sellwood.
Looking for something more posh? Look no further than Beaumont-Wilshire. This conservative neighborhood is squeezed between the urban sprawl of Downtown and the rougher parts of the outer-82nd Avenue neighborhoods. It's home to the grandest homes in Portland. Few are outright affordable, but some are in need of repair, and could fetch a bargain under the right circumstances.
