The Catalina Resort Hotel: The First Hotel In The Zihuatanejo Resort Area
Mexico is the home of the Zihuatanejo Resort, located on the coast halfway down the western side of the country. This area is a small fishing village that still holds the charm that visitors have enjoyed throughout the years. The small shops with different wares, the cozy cafes and restaurants and the cobble stone streets are part of that old village charm.

Over thirty years ago Mr. Alfonso Galindo Mackintosh traveled through the Zihuatanejo area and became enchanted with the yellow sandy beaches. As a result, he decided to build the first resort hotel and opened the area to tourism. He named the hotel the Zihuatanejo Resort in honor of his daughter and wife. He chose to build the hotel on a nearby hill so that all of the rooms could look out on the La Ropa beach.
One of the novelties of the Catalina Resort that the guests enjoy the most are the private terraces that overlook the bay. Mr. Mackintosh wanted each of his guests to enjoy the view that brought him to the area many years ago. Each terrace is furnished with two chaise lounges, a hammock and a table. Guests can invite their friends to share a drink on the terrace in the evening while they watch the sun set over the water.
Guests can choose from three different rooms with air conditioning: the honeymoon suite, the deluxe bungalows and the vista suites. Those who prefer a more natural atmosphere and a lower price can opt for the small casitas or the casitas that are cooled by the ocean breeze and fans. The size of the party and the price are the two things that normally determine the choice of room.
The Zihuatanejo Resort offers off season, mid-season and high season room rates. Off season guests are served a complete American style breakfast, and high season guests receive a Continental breakfast. There are two meal plans that guests can choose from for the rest of the day: lunch and dinner or just lunch.
Guests will never lack for things to do. There are a variety of water sports and fishing opportunities for guests who enjoy the water. For those who do not, there are two eighteen-hole golf courses, shopping and other activities. Guests enjoy browsing through the name brand clothing, leather items, gold and silver jewelry and the many items that are made by the local people.
The Private Resort in the beautiful Zihuatanejo Resort area offers relaxation and enjoyment to its guests. This semi-hidden, quiet resort area provides tourists with a wide range of outdoor and water sports, shopping and nightlife activities. This is a perfect place to make some unforgettable memories.
