Travelling from LA and around the USA

Traveling to Los Angeles can be both an expensive and daunting trip. If you find a cheap hotel it's faraway from anywhere you want to be. Most travelers in the US look for the same type of accommodation, Hotels & Motels. But, How about something different? In Europe, where it's quite common to travel alone, people stay in Hostels. So i went looking, and found Banana Bungalow. The hostel is in West Hollywood, close to Sunset Boulevard. At $20 a night i could keep the costs of my trip down. Hanging out in this part of town is kind of surreal, it's almost like being in a movie you see celebrities so often. In LA i decided that i would see some live TV shows. Although someone from the hostel told me that TV networks actually pay people to sit in on certain shows.

So we gathered a group of travelers from the hostel and headed down early one morning and ended up getting to watch 2 live tv shows, got paid and free lunch. Later in the week i spent most of the day walking on the walk of fame, which is actually much bigger than i expected. There's some strange stars there, not exactly sure why Kermit the Frog has his own star though. Most of the rest of the time there i spent walking around checking out cafes, restaurants and t-shirt shops. Going out partying in LA is also a bit different from other cities, i think i spent more time outside in the queue for the Viper Room than inside watching the band, although it happened to be Kyle Gass from Tenacious D's other band. The thing that hit me most about this area of West Hollywood was actually more to do with a sense of community.
Every morning i walked to the local 7-11 and on the way local people would say hello, just to be polite. Seemed to me like everyone in this community was happy to be there, I would really like to go back and experience another holiday like this one in the USA.
