How To Remain Healthy On Long Haul Flights
More people now head to exotic and far off destinations for their vacations. If you want to be certain that you have the maximum enjoyment when you arrive, you will need to know how to stay healthy on the flights you take.

The first couple of days of a vacation would be a complete waste if you arrived feeling drained, tired, or unwell. It could take a number of days to get back on your feet. Vacations should be a time to forget about stress and worry, not create more.

It is not just jet lag that can affect travellers; deep vein thrombosis is a serious condition of which there is a risk every time we take a long haul flight. It is a problem which relates to blood circulation and blood clots. Sadly there have been fatalities caused by the conditions on flights which have led to DVT.

The advice below needs to be read and understood to reduce the risk of falling sick when flying long haul.

Exercise: It is essential to stay as active as possible on any flight. Try to walk up and down the aisle of the plane at least once every couple of hours, keeping your legs moving is important to combat any circulatory problems that may develop. Even when seated you can still keep your legs active. Check out the in-flight magazines for tips and exercises which can maintain and improve health without having to even get up. If possible always sit in a relaxed position, do not cross your legs as this can increase the chance of deep vein thrombosis.

Drink: As most alcoholic beverages are free on international flights, there is always the real temptation to have a tipple or two to pass the hours. This will only have a negative effect on your health. Avoid alcohol as well as caffeine on any flight. Understand that the air in a plane's cabin will be pressurised and also very dry, this results in the body becoming dehydrated quicker, drink plenty of water and fresh fruit juice when in the air as this will help to maintain the correct water balance in the body.

Clothing: Wear loose fitting clothing. This is especially important with the choice of socks. Make sure they do not restrict the flow of blood. The temperature onboard can often vary dramatically throughout the journey. It would make sense to take a number of layers with you so that you can ensure you never feel too cold or too hot. Sudden changes in temperature are not good for the body. -- About the Author Looking for info on how to remain healthy and safe on flights to North America specifically Baton Rouge Flights ?
